Frequently asked questions

What is a Google Business Profile?

Help patients see your practice, build confidence, and find their next step.

A Google Business Profile is the free listing that shows up in Google Search and Maps with your hours, location, photos, and reviews. For many patients it's the first thing they see — often before they ever reach your website. Keeping it accurate and active is often the difference between getting found and getting skipped.

What is SEO + GEO?

Make your services easy to understand wherever patients search—including AI.

SEO (search engine optimization) helps patients discover your practice through search engines. GEO (generative engine optimization) describes work to make information useful and understandable in AI-generated answers. Our approach includes clear service descriptions, useful patient information, technical search improvements, and structured data that matches the visible page. These improvements help search engines understand your practice, but rankings, AI mentions, and citations are not guaranteed. Google does not require special AI markup to appear in AI Overviews.

What is WCAG 2.1 AA, and why does my practice need it?

An accessible website serves every patient and protects your practice.

WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is the international standard for making websites usable by people with disabilities. That includes patients who use screen readers, navigate by keyboard, or need stronger contrast and captions. Level AA is the benchmark that U.S. regulations and legal settlements point to.

It is increasingly a legal requirement. Under the HHS Section 504 rule, healthcare providers that receive federal health funding, such as Medicare or Medicaid, must make their websites meet WCAG 2.1 AA by May 11, 2027 (15 or more employees) or May 10, 2028 (fewer than 15). Separately, thousands of ADA website accessibility lawsuits are filed every year, and medical practices are among those named.

Accessibility widgets and overlays don’t make a site conform on their own. Every Oaknell website, from Bronze up, is designed and reviewed against WCAG 2.1 AA from the start.
